The last time I went camping was back in 2007 with my Charger Girl sisters. We did the whole shabang – tents, camp fire, sleeping bags, etc. and I remember being so terrified I couldn’t go to sleep! Haha! Well, years later – I decided to go camping again but this time with my family and we had our own cabin! So cute right?!
We left Saturday morning for a 4 hour drive out to Sequoia. The drive says it shouldn’t take you that long but once you get up to the mountain and you see how narrow the roads are – you’ll definitely want to drive UNDER the speed limit. The views are incredible but you are driving on a cliff for a little over an hour. Thankfully we made it safely to our little house on the prairie! lol
Once we hit the mountain – none of us had cell phone service and it stayed that way our entire time in Sequoia. No cell phone service, wifi or TV for 48hrs – Only yummy food, great conversations, adventures and possibly a wandering bear or monster out in the wilderness.. but I was the first one to close all of our blinds once it got dark outside because that was my plan for survival HAHA I must say… it was actually quite LIBERATING Not having to look at your phone every minute, not having to check your emails and just BEING PRESENT. In the moment with people you love the most. What’s better than that?!
I loved all of the laughs we had, the hikes we took, the HOME COOKED MEALS (still drooling over all of the delicious food) and all of the beautiful sights we got to see. The Giant Forest in Sequoia National Park is just AMAZING. The trees are gorgeous and the mountains are beautiful! Nature at it’s finest!
Looking forward to our next family getaway!
